Remote Employee Monitoring Software
Monitoring a distributed team is a different problem from monitoring an office: machines go offline, hours drift across time zones, and the Wi-Fi network stops being a useful signal. WorkAuditor is built for that case.
What breaks when everyone works remotely
- Attendance stops being visible. There is no door to walk through, so check-in has to happen on the machine — and it needs proof attached: network, IP address, and optionally a webcam photo.
- Network monitoring stops working. A gateway appliance cannot see a laptop on a home router. Only a local agent can record what happened on that machine.
- Connections drop. Laptops sleep, trains enter tunnels, hotels throttle. Recording has to continue offline and upload later.
- Hours are not 9-to-5. Recording windows need to follow the schedule, not the office clock.
How WorkAuditor handles each one
- Agent-side recording. Windows and macOS agents capture screenshots, application and website usage, file operations, USB activity, print jobs and clipboard activity on the device itself.
- Offline buffering. If the machine is disconnected, records are held locally and uploaded when it reconnects — no gaps to explain to a client or an auditor.
- Attendance with evidence. Check-in and check-out from the computer record the IP address, the Wi-Fi hotspot and an optional webcam photo. Monitoring can be set to run only between check-in and check-out.
- Schedule-based monitoring. Configure working hours per team or per person, so personal time is not recorded.
- Cloud console. Managers review reports in a browser; nothing needs to be installed on a server, and there is no VPN to maintain.
Remote control, when you actually need it
Live desktop view and remote keyboard/mouse control are included. That is useful for support and for verifying what a machine is doing — not for watching people work in real time, which produces anxiety faster than insight.
What to tell your team
Remote monitoring is the case where disclosure matters most, because the boundary between work and personal time is physical. Write the notice, state what is and is not recorded, and set the recording window. Our guide to notice requirements and the 30-minute rollout cover both.
